Can my friend be DFd for dating a non witness and wanting to get married to him

dear all, need some advice .

in my country one can get dfd for pretty much anything the bullies want to df you for.

but is there any specific guidelines that state one can or cannot be dfd for marrying a non witness.

Again, dating and marrying a non witness is not officially "brazen conduct." Telling the elders to "F" off and doing it is different. It is considered a matter of the heart and not subject to willful misconduct. I was on a committee which met with a sister who ignored us and married a person I was studying with! (I thought he was a great guy and they would be good together but we HAD to uphold the WT view, its sucked.

We told her the WT line of reasoning that only a person who has proved themselves to be a faithful brother was worthy. She proceeded to date him till he was baptized. NO reproof. He became an elder some few years after. Recently she was DF'd! Ironic.

I get the 'devils advocate" Kate but DF is not an official stance. As so many have attested to here its merely a marking issue if it is blatant. Love you Kate, honest. Don't take this as an attack. I always look forward to your comments!

i spent some time here awhile back as an unbelieving mate of a jw wife.

i learned a lot, and was able to be supportive and understanding when she decided to leave the jw.. unfortunately, my son seems to have internalized many of the jw teachings.

I was pretty much like your son, minus suicidal thoughts. I lived out of the cult for 11 years before I returned for a 13 year run. Raised without the holidays etc. blah blah blah. Always looking over my shoulder for the angel of death. He just needs to be weened off the mindset. Let him see the alternative view now and again in a kind way. Point to the positive in life and how we are all the same no matter what religion we choose. Focus on how "non unique" the Witnesses are. I don't know how deep it runs in him but I am sure you are doing the best you can. Ultimately its up to him to see the BS for what it is. Just let him know its there without seeming like sour grapes. All the best!

If a year is really 365 1/4 days why 360 days to calculate 1914

this was posted on another thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6040010839031808/christmas-tree-word-appreciation), but wondered about how others here would see this with one experience i had as an elder now as ex-jws.. when we were jw's we had to be extremely careful with what we said around the brotherhood.

if someone said anything out of the ordinary, relationships among the involved were halted immediately, or were never the same afterwards.

in this place, one can say almost anything without the fear of having a truck run over us.

We (speakers) were admonished that an alternate translation wasn't necessary since we had the best one available in the NWT, but, if we were to use any we must read the scripture from the NWT FIRST, followed by any other. This made it pointless. Now talks are less than 30 minutes long and there is no time for creativity. It's all part of controlling info and making the meeting tend towards more participation with the WT. To keep people involved and awake. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ didn't help, lol

Kate, I'm not sure where you got that information about a "sister" being DF'd. The answer according to the WT is as follows:

NO, not for simply marrying an unbeliever. Of course fornication is seen as a possibility if dating a filthy, sexually depraved "worldy" person, hence the panic. If they can avoid fornication before marriage there is no "SERIOUS" sin. As the Shepherding the Flock" book said:

"Marrying an unbeliever is contrary to Bible principles. (Deut. 7:3,4, 1 Cor. 7:39, 2 Cor. 6:14, 15.)

If a dedicated, baptized Christian marries and unbeliever, this would result in disqualification from all special privileges for the time being. (1st Tim. blah blah blah)"

Of course Elders can do what they want but they would have to find something other than dating and marrying an unbeliever in and of itself. Somehow they might invent something to DF your friend for if they don't like her. The "brazen conduct" would not automatically be in play here if she simply marries the guy. She has the right to choose her mate even if it is seen as an unwise choice. She followed God's law in getting married. They cannot trump her right to choose a marriage mate considering she is going to reap the consequences of her choice to "unevenly yoke" with an unbeliever, not them.

There are "Human" years, "Dog" years, "Solar" years and Watchtower "Lunar-Solar" years. They are "overlapping" calendars. Pile it high baby!

New Field Service Format?

it seems that hype is the only thing keeping jw.org alive and well these days (that and the money of suckers who continue to fall for it).. at meeting on monday, an elder announced "the faithful slave has seen it fit to change the format of our ministry in 2016, and more information will come".

i guess the desired reaction is to get jws preoccupied with what those changes could possibly be, and if it means that the end is nearer or some crap.. with that said, i've been suckered into wanting to know what these 'changes' will be.

does anyone know?

I do not know. My guess is that it will involve more electronic presentations and become mostly a case of point and preach via a tablet or phone. It's actually begun but they will probably refine it. Just brainstorming here.

I have doubts... can you help me??- A new idea

i have been perplexed as to how to brung my wife out of jws and to exit the religion... but i had an idea last night.

i know that elders will legitimantly meet with brothers who have doubts and encourage them... not df them .. this is a sheperding call etc.. thus since my wife knows i have doubt s i could say: i want to have two brother over to discuss this ... she will agree.... of course i will hit these guys with biblical textual issues, an biology to where they are stunned and still ask... "so brothers... can you solve this conflict...?".

in this case they will not think of me as an apostate but may question their own beliefs... .

If they are like most elders they won't be understanding, they will turn it into a chance to hang you. It all depends on your relationship with these men and their mood. If they have been listening to the GB's most recent rants on apostates I fear you will be pushing the dagger into your own heart. Its up to you to decide. Me? I wouldn't bother. Could this lead to a gag order? I know, I know too soon. Look, this SOB should be choked till he is almost dead every day for the next five years in prison. I think his particular type of crime will bring an early death in prison. Her parents should be put in his cell so they can have a bookstudy group in the big house. Sex abuse and attempted murder? You don't molest a child or try to kill them and go to prison without a target on your back! He's toast. Good riddance. Hope that sweet kid gets out of the shit cult.

Peer presure to use Ipad

earlier this season i advised my retired father to ignore the use of a tablet during his kingdom hall congregational visits.

his response was hopefull, but between the lines i could hear he had no choice.. yesterday he showed me his new 600 euro 64 gb ipad air 2. he had no clue what he has to do with it, he told me one of the elders will install the jw.org apps.. so, i feel he had to deal with presure to buy this ipad and i think he is not the only one.. do you recognize this?.

I know an 88 year old who can't even use her iphone who felt she had to have a tablet for "service". Has no clue how to use it nor any idea how to connect to the net. She has it in hand at the meeting even if its not on. So sad.
